mt cootha lookout (ir)
Joining the RedBubble forum and brisbane flickr group took us to Mt Cootha. Two InfraRed Photos were the result. The rest of the afternoon was rather ordinary.
Sunrise at shorncliff
Joined the RedBubble forum for the first time on a meetup at Shorncliff pier. The sunrise was great but so were and the people. The only problem with being up at 5am is the lack of any open coffeeshops.
Cloudy wedding
I was looking forward to finally getting the chance to shoot a garden wedding and not having to worry about the low lighting in a church. Sure enough in the true Murphy fashion the wedding was during the tail end of a big storm. Fortunately we did not get rained out. Infact the overcast day provided us with reasonbly diffused lighting. Photos as usual can be seen on the photo forum.
Luna Eclipse
A photo compositie of the August 2007 luna eclips is in the gallery. The photo came out very well and was worth the 3 day hassle of getting the required frames together, and ultimately being knocked out by the flu. This however means I will miss the river fire tomorrow. Not sure how that would have went with the tens of thousands strong crowd anyway.
noise and ... noise.
I attended a local jam run by Collage Planning this weekend. Some of the performances were amazing and above all loud. The most interesting thing I have ever seen was a performance by a Japanese artist Atsuhiro Ito who plays a instrument fluorescent tube. The result sounded like distorted noise at various frequencies and worked well in conjunction with a drummer. But that was nothing like the noise from my camera. The lights were off for the Atsuhiro Ito as he brought his own, but the following jams by SugarLogic were lit entirely by 2 dim fluorescent tubes.
This was the first time I have ever had to push my camera to ISO3200 at f/1.8 just to get somewhat of an exposure at shutter speeds which could barely freeze a snail and with noise to spare, but some of the images came up well anyway and will soon be integrated into the gallery.
Local Wedding
I was called in this week to help another photographer share the load of a rather rushed wedding. The conditions were bad, the day was rushed, and to make matters worse the church ceiling was blue making proper bounce flashing almost impossible. None the less we had to be there and managed to get some good shots nonetheless.
UniGames Volleyball tornament
The bi-yearly unigames tornament was held at the Sunshine Coast this week. I had the pleasure of covering some of the QUT teams. The results can be seen in this photoforum thread
Road Trip
This weekend took us for a road trip around the local mountains. Photos of the trip and its sad end can be found in the combined works gallery and at the photoforum as usual.
Gallery Updates
The photo gallery has been completed and updated with our recent works. Some of the images uploaded were taken at the Recent Labour Day March, the SounthBank Buddah Festival, Mt Neebo and Mt Glorious, photo shoots with friends, motorcycle and quad races, and a reasonably poor attempt at some combined work on Mt Cootha Lookout. Head to the galleries and check them out.
Website launched
As we have done several projects together want to do several future
projects together, we have decided to start a web gallery to display some
of our finest individual and combined efforts. The photos are loaded from
flickr, and this webpage will keep news updates. We will announce periodic
updates to the site here.
